Accessibility statement for The Reece Lab website
This accessibility statement applies to the website for The Reece Lab, a lab group part of the Institute of Evolutionary Biology & Institute of Immunology and Infection Research within the University of Edinburgh. www.thereecelab.com
This website is run by The Reece Lab. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
· change contrast levels
· zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
· navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
· navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
· listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
· navigate the website via any device
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible this website is & timeline
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
· older PDF documents are potentially not fully accessible to screen reader software
· Page headings are not labelled as heading elements
What we’re doing to improve accessibility & timeline
We provide doi links that have accessible html versions of our papers
We are aiming to find a solution for the page heading elements with the webhost platform by Dec 2020.
Disproportionate burden
Navigation and accessing information
· There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option)
· The lab logo is on the top left of each page is labelled as a H1 heading element
These issues are built in code from our webhost outside of our control.
